 The front back and sides were hand etched and colored by Richard Lee who was known for engraving  ukuleles for tourist in Waikiki at Hotels like The Royal Hawaiian Hotel and onboard several Matson cruse ships each engraving was personalized with images of diamond head, palm trees, suffers, swimmers on the beach so the owner could have a memento of their once in a lifetime vacation in Hawaii on Waikiki beach.
